Jinggoy Estrada arrested for quarantine violations
Former senator Jinggoy Estrada was arrested on Sunday for allegedly violating quarantine protocols while distributing food to residents in San Juan City.
In a video posted on Facebook by Estrada’s daughter Janella, San Juan Police chief Police Colonel Jaime Santos explained to the former politician that he was arrested for violating social distancing measures.
“May nakarating na reports as well as photos na violated ‘yung social distancing saka ‘yung proper handling of food,” Santos said.
Former president Joseph Estrada was also with his son at the police station.
Estrada said that he was wearing personal protective equipment while he was distributing food, according to GMA News’ Bernadette Reyes.
In another video taken by one of Estrada’s staff, Barangay Salapan residents were seen lined up close to one another as bangus was distributed.
While Estrada was handing out the fish, Santos arrived and invited the former senator to the police station.
The food items were also confiscated by police.
San Juan Mayor Francis Zamora earlier clashed with Estrada over a rolling store that was opened by Janella without the necessary business permit. — Julia Mari Ornedo/BM, GMA News
