Police personnel maintain order in Pasig City's Mega Market

Five weeks into the enforcement of the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine (ECQ), police elements manning the Pasig City Mega Market have become more tough in ensuring that social distancing measures against the further spread of COVID-19 are observed.

In this video taken by Super Radyo dzBB's Mark Makalalad on Wednesday morning, April 22, 2020, the otherwise overcrowded market in the city looks orderly as shoppers line up at proper distance from each other as they wait for their turn to shop.

In neighboring Mandauyong City, police elements guarding a checkpoint in the Kalentong Market area have been enforcing tougher scrutiny on passing motorists.

Earlier, President Rodrigo Duterte encouraged police forces to tighten the implementation of quarantine measures as the Luzon ECQ hangs between another extension or modification as the aim of flattening the COVID-19 curve was nowhere near in sight. —LBG, GMA News
