Situation at Blumentritt Market more orderly on second day of stricter ECQ measures

Fewer people were observed at Blumentritt Market on Thursday, the second day after the Manila City government implemented stricter social distancing policy after people flocked to the area even amid the Luzon-wide enhanced quarantine.

A report by James Agustin on Unang Balita said situation at the market was more orderly on Thursday and lines to the entrance were relatively shorter as compared to in the past days.

Apart from strict implementation of social distancing as a precaution against COVID-19, the body temperatures of marketgoers were also checked. Those who did not have quarantine pass were not allowed to enter the market.

Manila residents were allowed to go to the market from 5 a.m. to 12 noon, while non-residents were given the 12 noon to 4 p.m. schedule. For wholesale buyers it was 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Senior citizens, pregnant women and PWDs were not allowed in the market, though some still tried to get in. --KBK, GMA News
