Rizal Memorial Coliseum to accommodate COVID-19 patients starting next week
The Rizal Memorial Coliseum in Manila will be able to accommodate patients with the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) starting next week.
The coliseum is being converted as an extended facility set to hold COVID-19 patients who are either asymptomatic or have mild symptoms.
With a 112 bed-capacity, the building will be closely monitored by the Department of Health and the Armed Forces of the Philippines Medical Personnel.
In Allan Gatus' report on Super Radyo dzBB, construction workers can be seen erecting cubicles in the middle of the coliseum.
Each cubicle will have a bed, a chair, a side table, and a night light. The entrance will be covered by a plastic or vinyl curtain.
Aside from the Rizal Memorial Coliseum, the Philippine International Convention Center and World Trade Center in Pasay City will also be used as quarantine areas for the treatment and monitoring of COVID-19 patients.
As of Thursday, the Philippines has 2,633 confirmed COVID-19 cases with 107 deaths and 51 recoveries. --Kaela Malig/MGP, GMA News
