San Juan, Caloocan implement liquor ban
The local governments of San Juan and Caloocan have implemented a liquor ban amid the enhanced community quarantine being enforced in Luzon.
Under San Juan City Ordinance No. 24, selling of alcoholic drinks and drinking in public areas are prohibited while the country is under state of calamity due to the threat of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Those who will violate the ordinance will be sanctioned in accordance with the law, the San Juan City government said.
As of March 30, San Juan City has recorded 94 cases of COVID-19. A total of 133 residents are considered persons under investigation (PUI) while 328 others are persons under monitoring (PUM).
Mayor Francis Zamora himself is currently under self-quarantine after one of his staff tested positive for COVID-19.
Meanwhile, under Caloocan City Executive Order No. 009-2020, all establishments are prohibited from selling, distributing, and serving any alcoholic beverages within the city.
Consumption of alcoholic beverages in any public place or private property that can accommodate three or more person is also prohibited.
The Department of Public Safety and Traffic Management (DPSTM), barangay officials, and police shall strictly enforce the provision of the executive order.
Caloocan City has 22 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with seven deaths and four recoveries, as of March 29.
