Valenzuela City reports 2 new COVID-19 cases; total now 7
Two new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Valenzuela City on Sunday morning, bringing the total to seven.
The Valenzuela City government said on Facebook that the data were as of 10 a.m.
It said one of the cases, Patient 6, is 88 years old and the mother of the city's Patient 2.
"She is experiencing mild symptoms and is now under strict home quarantine," the local government said.
Meanwhile, the other case, referred to as Patient 7, is 36 years old and the husband of the city's Patient 1.
Patient 7 has a history of travel outside the country.
However, since both Patient 1 and Patient 7 are asymptomatic, they are under strict home quarantine.
The local government is already doing contact tracing and have taken swabs from identified close contacts.
It urged residents with symptoms, travel history and/or exposure to a possible COVID-19 patient to call the city's COVID-19 hotline at 8352-5000.
On Saturday, the city government said one of the COVID-19 patients, Patient 5, died on Friday.
Patient 5 is a female aged 53 and with severe cough and difficulty breathing. She was brought to the hospital on Tuesday, March 24, then passed away on Friday. Her test results for COVID-19, which came in on Saturday, turned up positive. —KG, GMA News
