San Juan cops monitored city boundaries in dry run of COVID-19 lockdown, says chief

The San Juan City Police on Thursday conducted a dry-run of a lockdown scenario amid the threat of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), according to Carlo Mateo's report on Super Radyo dzBB.

San Juan Police chief Police Colonel Jaime Santos said the dry-run was only a pro-active measure against the spread of the virus, adding that the National Capital Region Police Office had yet to implement any restriction in the movement of people.

According to Santos, around 90 to 150 police officers were deployed to monitor the boundaries of the city.

The dry-run started at 1 p.m. and lasted until 2 p.m.

Authorities will conduct another dry dun on Thursday afternoon, which is expected to help in decreasing the crime rates in the city, Santos said.

The police chief further said that the lockdown dry-run is similar to previously conducted dry runs against riding-in-tandems. —NB, GMA News
