Man arrested for 'Sangla-tira, Sangla-income' modus
A man was arrested for victimizing people by using a house as collateral for a loan in a "Sangla-Tira, Sangla-income" modus, according to a report on Saksi.
The suspect, Richard Abella, uses a house as collateral to borrow a large amount of money.
He would pay in tranches while letting the lender use the house in a given length of time.
The suspect would even tour the victims, who he usually gets to know through social media, of the house that he says us owned by a sibling.
If the lender is interested, payment is done at the barangay hall.
However, the victims are not able to stay in the house because this was already occupied.
So far, there are at least 55 people who fell victims to Abella's modus and the deals have reached about P30 million.
Tapos yun pala ending magiging sanglang income. Bale yung pinangungupahan nila ending binibigay nila sa amin yung 7000 pero ang nangyari hindi naman namin tinitirhan yung bahay," said Kim Ong, one of the victims of the scheme.
— BAP, GMA News
