Aboveground construction of MRT7 QMC station to resume
The aboveground construction of the MRT7 Station 2 at the Quezon Memorial Circle will resume as the local government lifted the cease and desist order against the project, according to James Agustin's report on Unang Balita on Monday.
Initially, the Quezon City government issued a temporary cease and desist order on the aboveground construction after authorities found that it will affect the national heritage park.
According to the local government, concessionaire San Miguel Corporation (SMC) changed the original design without their knowledge. The new design consumes more space for commercial purposes.
The QC government, SMC, and the Department of Transportation have already agreed to a final design of the MRT7 station.
According to Mayor Joy Belmonte, the MRT7 station is now smaller and would no longer obstruct the view to President Manuel Quezon's 66-meter tall mausoleum.
The MRT7 was expected to cut the two-hour travel time from Manila to Bulacan province to just 35 minutes. —Joviland Rita/KBK, GMA News
