Police, army IDs recovered from 2 Chinese suspects in Makati shooting
Two of the three Chinese suspects in the shooting of two other Chinese nationals in Makati City last week have been arrested and were found to be in possession of police and army IDs, according to Mav Gonzales' report on Unang Balita on Monday.
The suspects were identified as Yang Chau Wen and Liang Yuan Wu.
According to Colonel Rogelio Simon, chief of Makati City Police, the three suspects met with the two victims in a hot pot restaurant to change money from Chinese Yuan to Philippine Peso on Thursday.
CCTV footage shows the five Chinese nationals entering the restaurant. Then after a few minutes, three of them were seen leaving the place in a hurry.
The two victims sustained multiple gunshot wounds. One, identified as Yin Jian Tao, was declared dead on the spot while the other was rushed to a hospital.
Arrested suspect Yang Chau Wen said he was only persuaded to join the other two suspects.
In the footage, Yang Chau Wen was seen running while carrying the money.
“I was afraid and ran away… We were three people but the other one shot him,” he said.
Recovered from the suspects were the stolen money, three guns, ammunition, a paper with handwritten Chinese characters, and IDs.
The IDs appeared to be issued by the Hong Kong Police and the People’s Liberation Army. However, the persons in the ID photos were not the arrested suspects.
The police are still locating the suspect that was still at large. —Joviland Rita/KBK, GMA News
