Lagusnilad vandalism irks Mayor Isko; cultural group apologizes
Manila Mayor Isko Moreno on Tuesday expressed his disappointment over the vandalism on the wall of the Lagusnilad Underpass, which was recently cleared of vendors and stalls as part of the city’s cleanup and rehabilitation efforts.
The Lagusnilad Underpass near the Manila City Hall was free of illegal vendors on Tuesday, as a result of clearing operations that the mayor had ordered.
But cultural group Panday Sining's vandalism irritated the Manila mayor, prompting him to warn those who will be caught writing on the wall that they will be made to lick clean their writings.
According to a report of Vonne Aquino on GMA News’ Unang Balita, cultural youth group Panday Sining has already apologized for writing a protest statement on the wall.
“Sorry for the inconvenience, but the matter and issues at hand are urgent. That is why Panday Sining, a cultural organization of the youth, conducted its Graffiesta as a response to this worsening economic and political state of the nation,” Panday Sining said in a statement.
The group added that they are willing to talk with the mayor about the issue “as he shares the same sentiment about wanting [to have] just and lasting peace.” —Joviland Rita/LBG, GMA News
