Paranaque's roads 100% cleared, says mayor
Paranaque Mayor Edwin Olivarez declared that the primary and secondary roads of the city have been 100% cleared of obstructions, in compliance with the September 29 deadline of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).
According to a report by Cedric Castillo on 24 Oras on Friday, GMA News has began its monitoring of roads in Metro Manila cities to know if they have indeed been cleared.
The team had toured several areas of Paranaque such as the Sucat road, Quirino Ave, the boundary of Las Pinas, and Baclaran.
Aside from some construction works found on the roads and cars that are temporarily parked, the team noted that there was no obstruction along the roads.
"Baka naka-tyempo lang talaga kayo. Marami pang naka-park dun sa may Dongalo," a jeepney driver said.
An area at the Redemptorist road in Baclaran, which was once dubbed as a street not made for people, is now cleared.
According to a commuter, her travel time was reduced by two hours due to the smoother flow of traffic.
Some vendors, however, asked for a designated space where they can sell.
"Sa ugali nating mga Pilipino, hindi. Pwera na lang kung consistent ang government, babantayan talaga nila, 24/7," a woman said, when asked if the situation would last. —Joahna Lei Casilao/ LDF, GMA News
