29 inmates hurt in Manila City Jail riot; 9 rushed to hospital —official

Twenty-nine Manila City Jail (MCJ) inmates were hurt in a riot that broke out between members of two groups on Sunday morning.

Quoting a jail official, Super Radyo dzBB's Mao dela Cruz reported that nine of those hurt were rushed to hospital.

Involved in the riot were members of the Batang City Jail and the Sputnik Gang, the report added.

An initial investigation showed that the riot broke out at 6:28 a.m. and was quickly pacified with the help of the police.

MCJ officials said that jail visits are suspended for the day while an investigation into  the incident is being conducted. —LBG, GMA News
