Duterte lauds Manila Mayor Isko Moreno's efforts to clean up the city, introduce projects

President Rodrigo Duterte has expressed his admiration for the effort of Manila Mayor Isko Moreno to clean up his city, strictly implement ordinances, and introduce new programs.

"Bilib ako sa kanya kaya nanonood ako kung nagsasalita siya," he said in a press briefing after the oath-taking of the Malacañang Press Corps, Malacañang Cameramen Association, and Presidential Photojournalists Association.

"Mas mahusay siya kaysa akin, sa totoo lang. [laughter] Oo, may nakita ako na mas mahusay ang resolve niya kaysa akin. Plus two ako sa kanya," he added.

Moreno in the past weeks, since taking over as Manila chief executive, has spearheaded efforts to clean up city streets.

He has also strictly implemented city ordinances including curfew for minors, signed an agreement with fastfood chains to employ senior citizens and persons with disabilities, among others.

Moreno expressed his gratitude for Duterte's words of praise. — BAP, GMA News
