Manila ranked 43rd out of 60 cities in 2019 Safe Cities Index

Of the 60 cities ranked in the Economist Intelligence Unit's Safe Cities Index this year, Manila comes in at 43rd.

The index, released on Thursday, ranked 60 cities worldwide across five continents, measuring their urban safety based on digital, infrastructure, health and personal security.

The low rank is already an improvement from the 2017 edition of the Safe Cities index, where Manila was ranked 55th.

Meanwhile, Tokyo took the top spot for the third time in a row, followed by Singapore and Osaka.

The 2019 edition is the third, following the 2015 and 2017 editions.
