EDSA yellow-lane policy to remain despite complaints – MMDA

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Saturday said it remained inflexible on the strict implementation of the yellow lane policy along EDSA, despite complaints from inconvenienced commuters, motorists, and public utility vehicle operators.

"Unang una, masasanay 'yung mga bus drivers. So maga-adjust 'yan ng mga driving behaviors nila. Ganu'n din yung mga private vehicles. Lahat tayo kailangan mag-adjust," MMDA traffic chief Bong Nebrija said on Jun Veneracion's report for Balitanghali.

The MMDA had called on the public not to blame the yellow lane policy for the recent gridlock along the major thoroughfare.

On Saturday, there was a change in traffic flow along EDSA compared to the situation earlier in the week.

City buses were moving freely within the yellow lane, while private vehicles clogged the inner lanes.

The MMDA argued that this change in the situation proved that traffic along EDSA remained "unpredictable." — Margaret Claire Layug/DVM, GMA News
