Cop drowns during NCRPO swimming course

A Marikina City police officer drowned in Taguig City on Saturday during a Philippine National Police-National Capital Region Police Office basic swimming course.

The victim was identified as 28-years-old Police Corporal Adonis Serrano, who was assigned to Marikina's Police Community Precinct (PCP) 9.

Serrano's companions at the Basic Internal Security Operation Course (BISOC) realized something had gone terribly wrong when they discovered that the Marikina cop was missing at around 12 p.m.

His body was recovered at the swimming pool at about 12:10 p.m.

This is not the first time for a police officer to drown during a PNP course.

A police officer hoping to join the Philippine National Police's elite Special Action Force (SAF) also drowned during their diagnostic combat swim training in Calatagan, Batangas last June. — Jamil Santos/DVM, GMA News
