Complaint for bigamy filed vs. Raffy Tulfo; broadcaster cries extortion

A woman claiming to be the wife of broadcaster Raffy Tulfo filed a complaint for bigamy against him before the Quezon City prosecutor's office on Monday.

According to Glen Juego's report on Super Radyo dzBB, Julieta Nacpil Licup brought a supposed a marriage contract she and one “Rafael Tulfo” signed on October 25, 1982.

Licup alleged that their marriage was contracted by the city mayor Capaz, Tarlac.

She also presented a copy of a marriage certificate Tulfo contracted with another woman in 1995.

Licup said Tulfo's being assigned to far-flung areas due to his job as a journalist often led to heated arguments.

She said she and Tulfo had a child.

Licup said Tulfo eventually stopped seeing her and that even she thought he had passed on.

Tulfo cries extortion

On his program on Radyo Singko on Tuesday, Tulfo dismissed Nacpil's suit as part of an extortion try.

“Ito po ay plain and simple extortion,” Tulfo said on his radio program on Radyo Singko on Tuesday.

Tulfo presented a demand letter that he received in May this year supposedly from Nacpil and her lawyer asking him to give P100 million.

The demand letter stated that if he did not give the amount to Nacpil, they will put him in embarrassment, Tulfo said.

“Maraming taon ang nakakaraan, I reached out to my daughter with her. And nagkita pa kami ng anak ko sa kanya,” he said.

Tulfo said he gave his daughter financial support and gifts at that time.

"Ang understanding namin noon. Wala na kaming pakialamanan. Kanya-kanya na kaming buhay sapagkat po ay siya ay kasal na,” Tulfo said.

Aside from the demand letter, Tulfo also presented photos of Nacpil and, according to Tulfo, her new husband Arthur Joseph Pearson.

“Sila po ay nakapagpakasal sapagkat sila Julieta Nacpil po, bago sila magsama ni Pearson, nagfile siya ng presumptive death para sa akin—palitawin na ako ay yumao na para sila ay makapagpakasal…para sila ay makapunta na sa Amerika,” Tulfo said. —NB, GMA News
