Vico Sotto proclaimed mayor, ends Eusebio era in Pasig

Vico Sotto has been proclaimed as the new mayor of Pasig City on May 14, defeating reelectionist mayor Robert Eusebio.

According to a report by Super Radyo dzBB's Tuesday Niu, Sotto's proclamation came 2:15 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.

Final results from the city board of canvassers also solidified the victory of Iyo Bernardo, who ran unopposed for vice mayor, and Roman Romulo as the representative for the lone district of Pasig.

Sotto, 29, is the child of celebrities Vic Sotto and Coney Reyes, and the nephew of Senate President Vicente "Tito" Sotto III. 

His victory ended the 27-year rule of the Eusebio clan in Pasig. 

"Matagal tayong naghintay. ...Buti, narinig na ang sigaw ng Pasigeno," Sotto had said in an earlier report on Eleksyon 2019: The GMA News and Public Affairs Special Coverage.

"Confident po ako sa aking kakayanan, confident ako lalo na narinig ko kung ano ang gusto ng Pasigeno after 27 years na isang pamilya ang namyahal sa ating lungsod," he said. —Margaret Claire Layug/NB, GMA News
