AFTER BUILDING ASSESSMENT

Emilio Aguinaldo College in Manila to tentatively resume classes next week

Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC) in Manila, whose school building was found leaning against a neighboring building after Monday's earthquake, has announced that classes on all levels will tentatively resume on April 29, 2019, Monday.

The EAC administration posted the announcement on their Facebook page on Tuesday, one day after a 6.1 quake jolted Luzon.

"Classes (all levels) will tentatively resume on Monday, April 29, 2019, to give way for the checking and assessment of the EAC buildings," the post read.

The school administration also advised its students to "wait for further updates" on Thursday.

In a response to an inquiry in the comments section that questioned why classes would still resume in spite of the EAC building's condition, the EAC replied: "We have other buildings to facilitate the rooms for our classes."

In an earlier report, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) had said the safety officer of EAC has already been instructed to vacate and cease using the building due to the incident.

According to the police, the structures had moved during the earthquake.

The school building appeared to be leaning toward the adjacent structure.
