Concordia Bridge's northbound lane opens to motorists
The northbound lane of the newly-reconstructed Concordia Bridge or Quirino Bridge 2 in Manila was formally opened to motorists on Thursday morning.
According to Darlene Cay's report in GMA News TV's Quick Response Team, all the six lanes from both the north- and south-bound directions are now passable after months of scheduled closures.
"Lahat ng structures na ginagawa ngayon ay resilient meaning resistant siya sa seismic event mga earthquake, kapag nagakroon ng earthquake, mas matibay itong bridge," Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar said.
To recall, the bridge has also undergone closure to give way to the Metro Manila Skyway Stage 3 Project.
The opening of Concordia Bridge to its full capacity is seen to benefit 100,000 riders daily.
This thoroughfare connects Manila, Pasay, and Makati to the eastern and central parts of Metro Manila such as Quezon City, Mandaluyong, Pasig, San Juan, and Marikina. —Dona Magsino/LDF, GMA News
