Residents start fighting over water as interruptions continue
Residents have started fighting over water due to the lengthy supply interruptions.
According to Maki Pulido's report on "24 Oras", a group of residents who queued up for the daily water ration at Sitio Knights of Columbus in Barangay San Roque, Antipolo quarreled over the limited water supply.
A single firetruck was bringing water from neighboring barangays due to the low water pressure from the local hydrant. As the tank's contents was quickly emptied, residents argued over who was first in line.
The size of the water containers also became an issue, as some were filling up large drums while the others only brought bottles.
Moreover, the water brought by the truck was not always clean.
However, even blurry water was a big help to some residents as they needed it take baths and flush toilets.
Some people have even taken advantage of the water interruption, as water was reportedly being sold in the area at P10 per bucket.
Marissa, who has a monthly water bill of P200, said she now had to spend at least P100 for their daily needs.
An elderly women, on the other hand, said her blood pressure had gone up after waiting for so many hours in the heat.
"Dalawang truck na ang dumating, hindi pa rin nalagyan ang pila ko! Na-highblood na ako, sakit ng ulo ko!" she said.
