It was business as usual for the Eastern Police District (EPD) and Pasay City Police Station 1 despite the relief of some personnel due to alleged illegal activities of some policemen.

According to a Balitanghali report by GMA News' Darlene Cay, the desk officer is still staying at Pasay City Police Station 1 where citizens can still troop and report their concerns.

Investigators, meanwhile, are also still at the office of the drug enforcement unit.

All 27 members of the station drug enforcement unit (SDEU) of the Pasay City Police Station 1, including police chief Police Colonel Noel Flores, were relieved on Wednesday after a kidnap-for-ransom complaint was filed against them.

At the EPD, 15 cops from the drug enforcement unit, including district director Police Brigadier General Bernabe Balba, were also relieved due to alleged extortion.

The report said the EPD and the Pasay City Police Station would get help from personnel of other units.

It added that Police Brigadier General Christopher Tambungan would serve as acting EPD director while Police Colonel Bernard Yang will be the acting chief of Pasay City Police.

"Bibigyan sila ng pagkakataon. Tutulungan ng mga district directors concerned like SPD (Southern Police District) in the case of Pasay City Police Station," said National Capital Region Police Office chief Police Major General Guillermo Eleazar.

"Ito namang si EPD, bahala silang maghanap kung sino ang ilalagay nila, idedesignate na hepe ng mga drug enforcement unit na ito," he added. — Anna Felicia Bajo/RSJ, GMA News
