MMDA conducts clearing ops vs. street vendors for Tandang Sora flyover closure
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Task Force Special Operations has conducted clearing operations against vendors who will be affected with the closure of the Tandang Sora flyover and intersection.
According to a Balitanghali report by Mark Salazar, street vendors were warned by the MMDA to relocate since last week.
The MMDA asked for patience from street vendors and urged them to observe discipline during the closure, which is part of the ongoing construction of the Metro Rail Transit System Line 7 (MRT-7).
The agency also said there are only limited alternate routes for motorists once it implements the closure of the four-lane flyover.
The report said the construction of the MRT Tandang Sora Station would take two years.
Following an outcry from local officials and several residents, commuters and motorists, the Department of Transportation had postponed for one week the permanent closure of the Tandang Sora flyover and intersection. —Anna Felicia Bajo/ LDF, GMA News
