Fisherfolks catch tilapia in Pasig River
A group of fishermen had an abundant catch of Tilapia in Pasig River, an indication that life could be slowly finding its way into the historic body of water earlier declared biologically dead due to extreme pollution.
According to Chino Gaston’s report on GMA’s "24 Oras"on Thursday, around two kilos of Dory were also caught in the river in December.
The Pasig River Rehabilitation Commission (PRRC), however, warned that the catch from the river was not yet cleared as safe for consumption.
The commission is set to get tissue samples from the fishes in Pasig river and send it to the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources to examine the level of its toxicity. —Dona Magsino/ LDF, GMA News
