Passengers at Araneta bus terminal remain stranded due to Usman


Passengers bound for the Visayas and Mindanao remain stranded at the Araneta Center Bus Station in Quezon City on Friday as roll-on-roll-off (roro) operations in Usman-affected areas were cancelled for a second day.

According to Raffy Tima's report for "24 Oras," some bus operators didn't expect any trips to resume soon, especially as Tropical Depression Usman moving slowly on its way to Eastern Samar.

"Sabi, bumagal daw ang bagyo kaya kanselado parin, d'i namin alam kung hanggang kailan daw 'to," Max Villasan, Jr., a dispatcher of of Elavil Tours, said.

Hoping to celebrate the New Year in their home province of Iloilo, many passengers were determined to spend the night at the terminal.

The family of Roberto Beldia, who is on their third night, said the long stay is draining their budget.

"Sabi kasi nila, anytime na payagan ang aalis agad," said Roberto. "'Yung pampasalubong, nabawasan.

Jovyn Cuna, who had been stuck at the terminal for two nights, said management had not been able to help them as there were too many stranded passengers.  

"Problema, wala nang ligo, may CR pero mahirap pa rin," Joy said. "Masyado raw kami marami, pag binigyan ang isa dapat lahat, bigyan." —NB, GMA News
