Makati City Hall bares road closures, alternate routes for Undas 2018


In observance of the All Saints’ Day and All Souls' Day holidays this week, the Makati City government advised motorists to take alternate routes as some roads in the city will be closed from October 31 to November 2.

According to the advisory, starting at 12 midnight on Wednesday (October 31), up to 12 midnight of Friday (November 2), the city Public Safety Department (PSD) will close the following roads:

  • Kalayaan Avenue (from Zapote to N. Garcia)
  • South Avenue (from Metropolitan to J.P. Rizal)
  • Vito Cruz  (from South Ave. to Zapote)
  • Pililia St. (from J.P. Rizal to Kalayaan)

A two-way traffic system will be implemented in the following areas:

  • J.P. Rizal Street (from Pasong Tirad to Makati Avenue)
  • Kalayaan Avenue (from Pasong Tirad to Zapote St.)

One-way traffic will be implemented in the following areas:

  • Kalayaan Avenue (from N. Garcia to Makati Avenue)
  • Metropolitan Avenue (from South Avenue to Nicanor Garcia St.)

Also, motorists are advised to take alternate routes, as follows:

  • From Guadalupe Area to Manila - take J.P. Rizal Avenue toward destination
  • From Manila to Guadalupe Area - take J.P. Rizal Avenue toward destination
  • From Ayala CBD to Circuit Makati - take Ayala Avenue, left turn to Yakal Street, right turn to Pasong Tamo toward destination
  • From Zapote to Ayala CBD - take J.P. Rizal Avenue, right turn to N. Garcia, left turn to Gil Puyat Avenue toward destination
  • From EDSA/Jupiter Area to Vito Cruz - left turn to N. Garcia, right turn tp Gil Puyat Avenue toward destination
  • From Mandaluyong to CBD - take Makati Avenue toward destination
  • From Kamagong Street to Jupiter Street - right turn Ayala Avenue, loop Ayala Avenue / Gil Puyat Avenue, left turn to N. Garcia toward destination

The number coding scheme will be suspended in Makati on November 1 and 2, the advisory said.

Motorists are reminded to expect heavy traffic, take alternative routes, and avoid the South Cemetery area.

PSD enforcers will be deployed to manage traffic and assist motorists in the affected areas. —Joviland Rita/NB, GMA News
