Abby Binay files COC for Makati mayor, to go against brother Junjun

Incumbent Makati City Mayor Abby Binay on Wednesday filed her certificate of candidacy (COC) for her re-election bid in the 2019 elections.

She was accompanied by her father, former Vice President Jejomar Binay, and running-mate, incumbent Vice Mayor Monique Lagdameo.

"Tuloy na tuloy na dahil nakapag-file na tayo. Wala nang atrasan. Kaya nagpapasalamat kami sa suportang ibinibigay ng aming ama para sa aming ticket," Abby said.

Abby will go against her brother, former Makati City mayor Junjun Binay, for the position.

Jejomar Binay earlier said he would let Makati City voters choose between Abby and Junjun.

Abby said she was glad that her father accompanied her in filing her COC at the Commission on Elections (Comelec) office in Makati City.

"Mahirap mag-expect kaya nakakataba ng puso ang lahat ng pumunta at siyempre mas nakakataba ng puso na narito ang aking ama," she said.

Asked on who between his two children he will support, Mr. Binay said: "Sabihin na lang nating sinusuportahan ko si Abby."

Mr. Binay has earlier been reported to be running for congressman of Makati's first district. When asked on Wednesday if he has already filed his COC, he just nodded. —KBK, GMA News
