Crisologo will go head to head with incumbent Quezon City Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte and former Representative Ismael "Chuck" Mathay III.
In running for the position, Crisologo stressed that there is a "clamor" for change in Quezon City.
"If you notice, 18 years na ang mga nakaupo dito. At walang social services dito. The people of Quezon City are being short-changed. Sa distrito ko, nakakagawa ako ng paraan bilang congressman. But in other districts, wala. Kawawa naman ang mga tao," he told reporters in an ambush interview.
"It's about time na ibalik natin ang Quezon City sa mga tunay na may-ari, sa taumbayan na nakatira sa Quezon City," he added.
Crisologo even quipped that the people of Quezon City should elect a mayor who knows when to announce class suspension.
"Dapat ang ilagay natin na mayor sa Quezon City, 'yung tao na makakapag-desisyon kung may pasok o wala sa eskwelahan," he said.
Belmonte drew flak in 2017 when, even if other cities had canceled classes, she did not do so even as Typhoon Gorio enhanced monsoon rains which caused floods.
At the House of Representatives, Crisologo serves as Deputy Majority Leader.
Former Environment Secretary and congressman Mike Defensor, meanwhile, serves as Crisologo's campaign manager. —KG, GMA News
