Tornado uproots 100-yr-old tree, interrupts wedding reception in Marikina; 2 electrocuted
Two residents were electrocuted when a tornado hit Marikina City on Friday. Video footage at a wedding reception captured the exact moment the whirlwind happened.
A report by Bernadette Reyes on Balitanghali on Saturday said that a live wire fell on them when the tornado barreled through the city past 5 p.m. The victims are currently recuperating at the Amang Rodriguez Hospital.
Marikina's Heritage Zone was affected by the whirlwind, and an acacia tree that was more than a 100 years old was uprooted.
Intermittent rains have continued over Metro Manila and nearby provinces as Typhoon Ompong was ramming through northern Luzon as of early Saturday moning.
Signal No. 1 is currently raised over Metro Manila, while Signal No. 4 is up over Ilocos Norte, Apayao, Abra, Kalinga, and Babuyan Group of Islands as the cyclone continued on its path toward Ilocos Norte. — MDM, GMA News
