Marikina residents continue to clean up after flood

Days after almost the entire city of Marikina was flooded due to monsoon rains brought about by the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat), residents tirelessly continued to clean up their muddy homes and surroundings.

In Barangay Tumana, one of the areas hit worst by the flooding, some residents woke up early to start cleaning, according to a report on Unang Balita on Tuesday by Bam Alegre.

Trash left behind by floodwaters could still be seen on the roads.

Residents are hoping these would be collected soon for their health and safety.

More than 20,000 families were still in Marikina's evacuation centers as of Monday due to flooding caused by heavy rains over the weekend.

PAGASA said occasional monsoon rains will be felt on Tuesday over Metro Manila due to the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat). —KG, GMA News
