EDSA rush-hour ban on provincial buses starts on August 15, 2018

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Thursday said it would start enforcing the rush-hour ban on provincial buses in most parts of EDSA on August 15.

“We are pushing through with the provincial bus ban starting August 15, only during rush hours," MMDA General Manager Jojo Garcia said.

According to Garcia, buses from the north shall end their route in Cubao in Quezon City while those coming from the south shall stop in Pasay City.

Those without terminals in Pasay City may use the agency-operated Southwest Interim Provincial Terminal (SWIPT).

The policy will take effect on weekdays from 7 am to 10 am and from 6 pm to 9 pm.

Violators will be fined with P2,000, the MMDA said.

Garcia said the five-hectare terminal in Paso de Blas road in Valenzuela City was not yet operational as it had not complied with the standards set by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).

This incsuch as installation of waiting sheds, comfort rooms, and walkways.

Once the terminal is already operational, provincial buses coming from the north can drop off their passengers inside it, Garcia added. —NB, GMA News
