CLEAN RIDER CAMPAIGN

PNP puts stickers, QR code on motorcycles to ID riders

The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Wednesday launched the "Clean Rider" nationwide campaign in an effort to deter crimes involving motorcycles.

Around 2,000 riders around Metro Manila gathered at the Quirino Grandstand for the campaign, according to a report by Mariz Umali on News To Go.

For those participating riders, a serialized sticker or "Clean Rider" sticker will be placed in front of their motorcycles, with the same serial number also being placed on the back of their license plates to serve as a security feature.

A QR code will also be placed on the back of the motorcycles, which can be scanned by the police through a mobile application.

After scanning, the information of the rider will appear n in the police's app to determine if the motorcycle was not stolen or not.

The campaign is voluntary and free. Riders only need to go to any police station, present their OR/CR, driver's license, and government-issued I.D.

The PNP reminded riders that the stickers cannot not be transferred, otherwise, they have to report it to the police.

If the motorcycle will be sold, it should be brought first to a police station for the replacement of the QR code. — Jamil Santos/MDM, GMA News
