Houses in Talayan Village, QC dismantled in demolition

Despite some resistance from residents, a demolition operation in Talayan Village, Quezon City pushed through on Wednesday.

Residents packed their belongings as houses were toppled and removed, according to a report by Allan Gatus on Super Radyo dzBB.

The report further said authorities had to resort to a "forced" demolition after a long period of negotiations with the residents proved futile.

The Pasig River Rehabilitation Commission said the area was a danger zone due to its proximity to the San Francisco River.

The relocation aimed to prevent putting the residents' lives in danger in case of floods and rains. Their relocation site will be at Morong, Rizal. — Jamil Santos/MDM, GMA News
