302 ‘tambay kalye’ rounded up in QCPD’s intensified anti-crime ops
The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) on Saturday said it has apprehended some 302 violators of laws and city ordinances in its intensified anti-criminality operations.
QCPD director Chief Superintendent Joselito Esquivel Jr. reported to National Capital Region Police Office head Chief Supt. Guillermo Eleazar the apprehension of some 302 "tambay kalyes" within 24 hours.
The intensified anti-criminality operations were conducted Friday at 5 a.m. to Saturday at 5 a.m.
The police district's ongoing crackdown on "tambays" followed President Rodrigo Duterte's order to go after those whom he viewed as “potential trouble for the public" as there are existing city ordinances against drinking on the streets, roaming half-naked, urinating in public, and making too much noise.
