Xian Gaza, who asked for date via billboard, detained over alleged scam

Xian Gaza, the man who went viral for his billboard date proposal, has turned himself in to the Malabon police on Thursday over his involvement in an alleged investment scam.

Malabon Police Station chief Senior Superintendent John Chua said that Gaza surrendered around 12:30 p.m.

Gaza was then transferred to the Malabon jail around 4 p.m.

The arrest warrant against Gaza was issued by the Malabon Metropolitan Trial Court Branches 56 and 120 for supposedly failing to attend court hearings following his initial appearance.

The charges were filed by Jaime Asuncion and Melinda Cruz after Gaza failed to settle his debt amounting to P1 million and P2 million respectively.

The complainants were supposedly asked to invest in a coffee shop business of Gaza.

In June last year, Gaza admitted being a "former scammer" in a deleted Facebook post.

He said that he was facing criminal cases and had a personal debt of P13.9 million when he was 19 years old.

Gaza first went viral over the social media after he asked actress Erich Gonzales out on a date via a billboard. —NB, GMA News
