Police Superintendent Christian Dela Cruz, station commander of the Quezon City Police District Station 10, said nine inmates and one policeman were injured in the incident.
Initial reports said the encounter rose between the Commando and Sigue Sigue Sputnik groups.
Authorities ordered the prisoners' visitors to leave the area to ensure their safety. No one was hurt among the visitors.
Kaya pinalabas na namin," Dela Cruz said.
