2 persons dead in Makati City fire

At least two persons have died in a fire that hit an apartment and several houses in Makati City early Thursday morning, James Agustin reported for Super Radyo's dzBB.

In a separate report by Vonne Aquino on "Unang Balita," the fire hit the apartment that was rented by Arnel and Aries Lambino on La Banda Street corner San Jose Street in Barangay Guadalupe Nuevo in Makati City about 11:50 p.m. on Wednesday.

The fire started on the second floor of the apartment owned by Regie Basco.

Marlon Abando, a resident in the area, said he heard someone shouting and he saw a man at the window trying to get out of the burning building.

Aside from the apartment, four other houses were partially damaged by the fire, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said.

The estimate cost of damage to property, the BFP said, is worth around P100,000.

The BFP is looking at the possibility that the fire started from an unattended candle because the apartment had no electrical connection at that time.

The fire reached a third alarm before the BFP declared it under control by 1:36 a.m. on Thursday. — BAP, GMA News
