Kids use pellet guns, throw sticks during horseplay in Mandaluyong street
Some children and teenagers blocked a street in Barangay Addition Hills, Mandaluyong City with horseplay that included firing pellet guns and throwing objects at each other.
A 24 Oras report by Mark Zambrano on Sunday showed that boys were playing with pellet guns and a rifle toy. Some had mineral water bottles, stick and slippers to throw at their "opponents" in the mock street war.
The minors were not worried that the pellet guns could have made them blind, the report said.
The report added that this incident had caused traffic in the area, prompting barangay officials to act.
"Opo may mga warning po sila sa amin... Kasi alam naman po nila na tuwing December eh bawal na bawal po talaga pag may natamaan..." said Alice Cabanillas, desk officer.
Meanwhile, some vendors denied that they had sold the toy guns to the children.
"Hindi po... bawal po kasi. Laruan lang po at torotot," one vendor said.
National Capital Region Police Office chief Director Oscar Albayalde ordered the officer-in-charge of the Mandaluyong police to act on the incident and intensify police visibility in the "critical" areas of the city. — Anna Felicia Bajo/BM, GMA News
