Houseboy stole P133k from employer, threw a party, went shopping
A household helper is now in police custody after stealing P133,000 cash from his employer in Malabon City.
GMA News' Victoria Tulad on "Unang Balita" identified the suspect as Romnick Tamaranza, 23, from Butuan City in Mindanao.
Rochie Abrenica, Tamaranza's employer, said that the theft happened before dawn Thursday when she was in Bulacan.
The suspect was staying in his employer's house and at the time he was left behind while Rochie was in the province. Tamaranza took P133,000 from his employer's room.
Rochie said that she learned about the theft when she asked her niece to deposit the money. But she was told that the total amount that was supposed to be deposited lacked P133,000.
The suspect, who was still in the house when Rochie was back, denied taking the money, but later admitted to the crime at the police station.
After the theft, Tamaranza reportedly threw a drinking party with his friends and went shopping in the afternoon of Thursday.
Recovered from him was P10,000 cash and a number of items he bought while shopping, including an expensive smart phone, branded shoes, expensive shirts and bag. He also bought a plane ticket for Butuan City.
Rochie said she trusted Tamaranza so much as he has been with the family for three years.
"Hindi ko inisip na pakialaman yung pera ko. Matagal na siya sa akin magti-three years na siya. Mabait siya, siguro naano lang dahil sa birthday ng ina niya," Rochie said. —LBG, GMA News
