Why a half-naked man was driving a smoke-belching bus on EDSA

The smoke from this bus was thick enough to affect visibility at EDSA-Kamuning flyover on Sunday, a motorist's video showed.

The video also showed that the bus driver was half-naked, an apparent violation of traffic and public transportation rules.

According to Tina Panganiban-Perez's report on "24 Oras", the owner of Kingsam Express Inc. was summoned by the Land Transportation Office to a hearing on Friday as regards the incident.

Samuel Santos said he would attend the hearing.

In an interview, Santos said Kingsam's buses weren't smoke belchers.

He said the bus that figured in the video had a broken turbo charger.

Santos added that the bus driver didn't have a shirt on because the air conditioning was turned off.

He said it was quite hot inside the bus. —NB, GMA News
