Kulot’s pa wears bulletproof vest during funeral Mass

Eduardo Gabriel, father of Reynaldo "Kulot" de Guzman, wore a bulletproof vest during the funeral Mass for Kulot in Pasig City on Wednesday morning.

According to a report by Rod Vega on dzBB, Gabriel was made to wear the vest in compliance with the standard operation procedure of the Witness Protection Program.

Meanwhile, Gabriel's wife Lina was without a vest but was heavily guarded by officers of the WPP. Lina wore a bulletproof vest earlier but found it too heavy and took it off.

De Guzman's parents were both placed under the WPP of the Department of Justice (DOJ) after suspicious-looking men were spotted around their house.

The funeral Mass for De Guzman on Wednesday was held at San Antonio Abad Parish in Barangay Maybunga, Pasig.

He will then be buried at the Pasig Public Cemetery.

De Guzman was a 14-year-old who was allegedly last seen on August 18 with Carl Angelo Arnaiz. He was found dead in a creek in Nueva Ecija, his head wrapped in packaging tape and his body bearing multiple stab wounds. Arnaiz, meanwhile, was earlier shot to death on C3 Road by Caloocan Police after he allegedly robbed taxi driver Tomas Bagcal and shot it out with the cops when accosted.

Later on, police said DNA test findings showed that the body that was found in Nueva Ecija was not De Guzman's.

However, his family still pushed through with the Wednesday burial. —Akari Nakano/KG, GMA News
