SUV crashes into traffic outpost on Marcos Highway; one dead

One person died after a sport utility vehicle rammed into a traffic outpost and plowed through a sidewalk on Marcos Highway, Barangay Dela Paz, Pasig City on Wednesday morning, Super Radyo dzBB reported.

In an interview on radio dzBB, Emma Luistro of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Metrobase said the mishap involving a public utility jeep (PUJ) and the SUV occurred around 5 a.m.

"'Yung pa-direksyon po 'yan ng Cainta, eastbound, isa pong aksidente ang nangyari diyan, ang na-involve, isang pampasaherong jeep, isang SUV at meron pong nabanggang isang commuter," Luistro said.

"Tao 'yung nabangga, pasahero. Mukhang nagaantay ng masasakyan," she added.

In a separate report on GMA News' To Go on Wednesday, the driver said he tried to avoid the jeepney which prompted him to lose control of his vehicle.

Due to the impact of the SUV ramming into an outpost of the Pasig City Traffic and Parking Management Office, the victim was thrown 25 meters away from the sidewalk where he was standing. —Marlly Rome Bondoc/KG, GMA News
