3, including minor, nabbed for possession of 1-kg marijuana blocks

Three people, including a teenager, were arrested by policemen in Quezon City on Monday night for possession of one kilogram of marijuana.

Police identified two of the suspects as Carlo Santos and John Mico Espiritu.

The underage suspect was only 17 years old, police said.

Superintendent Benjie Tremor, commander of Quezon City Police District Station 7, said the three suspects were arrested by policemen manning a checkpoint at 13th Street in Barangay Socorro.

Tremor said the three suspects on board a motorcycle were flagged down for not wearing helmets.

When policemen inspected the underage suspect's bag, blocks of dried marijuana leaves weighing at least one kilogram were discovered.

The minor claimed he did not know that what he was carrying contained blocks of marijuana leaves.

Charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act are being prepared against the suspects. —report from Luisito Santos/ALG/KVD, GMA News
