Car crashes into steel bars of MRT-7 construction after driver falls asleep
A man fell asleep while driving on Commonwealth Avenue early Tuesday, causing the car to crash into the steel bars at the Metro Rail Transit 7 construction, a report on Unang Balita said.
The accident occurred in Brgy. Holy Spirit in Quezon City around 2 a.m., GMA News' Jay Sabale reported.
The car stopped on the center island after the crash.
The driver, identified as Elvin Sanchez, had no injuries.
Sanchez said he came from duty at the hospital and was on his way home when the accident occurred.
He denied having drunk alcohol.
Sanchez will face raps of reckless imprudence resulting in damage to property.
Taxi accident
Meanwhile, a taxi bumped into another accident at the intersection of East Avenue and V. Luna Street past 2 a.m. Tuesday.
Metropolitan Manila Development Authority personnel responded and assisted the two American nationals who were passengers of one of the taxis.
The Americans were on their way to the airport when the accident occurred.
The two taxi drivers said the stoplight at the intersection was malfunctioning.
Authorities are still investigating the accident to determine who will be held responsible. —KG, GMA News
