Security remains tight at NAIA even if crowd is thin on Holy Wednesday

Despite the low volume of passengers on Wednesday morning, security remains tight at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, a report on Unang Balita said.

At Terminal 1, departing passengers breezed through the entrance and check-in early Wednesday morning.

Meanwhile, at Terminal 3, there were fewer passengers around 3 a.m. compared to the same time on Tuesday.

At the arrival area at Terminal 3, many well-wishers were spotted waiting for the arrival of their loved ones.

More passengers—both departing and arriving—are expected at the airport on Wednesday for the Holy Week break.

Maundy Thursday (April 13) and Good Friday (April 14) have been declared regular holidays, while Black Saturday (April 15) is a special non-working holiday.

Authorities said there were more passengers at NAIA at this time compared to 2016.

On Monday this Holy Week, passenger volume was up by 10.5 percent compared to the same day in 2016.

The Manila International Airport Authority launched on Tuesday its hotline local 02-16566.

The MIAA said the public may contact the hotline for any concern. —KG, GMA News
