Suspicious package disrupts Makati area; no bomb found

A suspicious package left in Barangay Bel-Air in Makati City disrupted the area on top of the evening rush hour traffic in the central business district.

A spot report from the Makati City PNP said it received a phone call around 7:35 p.m. that an unattended baggage was left in the area.

Cops from the Police Community Precinct 6 and the Explosives and Ordnance Division were quickly dispatched to investigate the package.

"Package was rendered safe and negative of explosives or hazardous materials. Package contained metal grinder and aerosol spray canister," the spot report said.

"Wala. Suspicious package lang na nag-negative naman," Southern Police District chief Sr. Supt. Tomas Apolinario said in a text message to GMA News Online.

"Isang construction worker ang nakaiwan sa bag," he added.

The area has been opened for traffic following the police operation, according to Apolinario. —JST, GMA News
