Cops nab TV network’s cameraman in Quezon City drugs buy-bust

Police arrested a television network's cameraman in a buy-bust operation in Quezon City on Friday night.

The cameraman was identified as Anthony Martin, a cameraman of ABS-CBN.

Chief Inspector Ramon Aquiatan, chief of the Quezon City Police District Station 7's anti-illegal drugs unit, said Martin was arrested in a fast-food restaurant along Mother Ignacia Avenue in Barangay South Triangle at around 8 p.m.

Martin was allegedly caught selling P3,500 worth of shabu to a poseur-buyer.

Police recovered six sachets of suspected shabu from the suspect.

Martin denied that he was dealing drugs.

"Pinadadala lang sa akin, wala akong kinalaman doon," he said during an interview.

Kane Errol Choa, head of ABS-CBN Corporate Communications, stressed in a statement that the company does not allow their employees to be involved in illegal drug activities.

"ABS-CBN has a drug-free workplace policy and does not tolerate the use and distribution of illegal drugs by any of its employees. We will ensure that any of our employees proven to be engaging in illegal drugs will be subject to company policy,” Choa said.

"We are cooperating with the authorities on this matter," he added.

Policemen also arrested Martin's alleged drug supplier identified as Eduardo Abraham, a resident of Cambridge Street in Cubao, Quezon City.

“Nung nakuha namin ang number nitong source niya (Martin), inorderan namin, nilaro namin, nag-pretend din kaming buyer ng shabu." said Aquiatan.

He said Abraham was arrested after selling P14,000 worth of shabu to another police poseur-buyer.

Police seized three sachets of suspected shabu from the suspect.
