'OPLAN GALUGAD'

NCRPO eyes more raids on Camp Bagong Diwa

The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) on Tuesday vowed to conduct more raids at Camp Bagong Diwa cells to seize all contraband, including illegal drugs, being hidden there by inmates.

"Ito ay patuloy nating gagawin. Uulitin natin para mahalughog ng mabuti yung mga selda dahil may nare-recieve tayong mga reports previously na meron talagang nangyayaring drug transaction sa loob tapos yung palitan [ng droga] sa labas," Chief Superintendent Oscar Albayalde, the NCRPO head, said on "Balitanghali."

Albayalde said the raid dubbed Oplan Galugad conducted on Monday resulted in finding several bladed weapons, cash, cellphones, and about 17 small sachets of shabu and drug paraphernalia particularly from members of the Sputnik Gang.

"Wala namang baril na nakuha, mga bladed weapons lang. Yung shabu na nakuha natin, around 17 small sachets dahil madaling itago yung mga maliliit na sachet, plus yung mga paraphernalia na nakuha dun sa selda ng Sputnik Gang," he said.

Abayalde said he has yet to determine the exact amount of cash recovered from the jail cells.

Meanwhile, the NCRPO chief urged the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology to enforce a stricter security at Camp Bagong Diwa.

Albayalde also called on the BJMP to investigate its personnel assigned at the detention facility to find out if they are in connivance with the inmates.

"I think yung ating mga BJMP personnel kailangan talagang maghigpit at itong nangyayaring illegal drug trade nangyayari pa rin sa loob ng piitan. Itong BJMP kailangan din nilang imbestigahan ang kanilang hanay," he said.

Albayalde said contraband such as cellphones will not be found inside jail cells without the consent or knowledge of the jail guards.

"Posibleng meron silang kasabwat na mga jail guards dun, so kailangan talagang maimbestigahan ng mabuti ito dahil hindi naman talaga dapat may cellphone ang mga inmates dun," Albayalde said.

Albayalde said Camp Bagong Diwa is back to normal operations but the NCRPO is preparing to file a case against the inmates found possessing contraband.

"Back to normal na sila. Lahat ng nakumpiska natin will be presented sa korte and we will be filing a corresponding case kung kanino nakuha yung shabu at paraphernalia at kaninong inmates nakuha yung kontrabando," he said. —Joseph Tristan Roxas/KBK, GMA News
