Fewer passengers at provincial bus terminals a day before All Saints’ Day
Unlike the situation in previous days, fewer passengers were at provincial bus terminals in Metro Manila on Monday, a day before All Saints' Day, Unang Balita reported.
At the Araneta Bus Terminal in Cubao, Quezon City, there were only a few people trying to catch trips to the provinces in time for Nov. 1, All Saints' Day.
Even the bus trips were fewer on Monday, GMA News' Jay Sabale reported.
Most of the passengers boarded bus trips on Saturday and Sunday to take advantage of the long weekend, since Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 are non-working holidays.
Some of the passengers at the Araneta Bus Terminal said they reserved bus tickets previously but were only given slots on Monday.
Others waited for the weather to improve in their destinations before heading there.
The management of Araneta Bus Terminal said there were fewer passengers at the terminal this year for the Undas holidays compared to the same period in 2015.
From Friday to Sunday, 7,000 passengers were recorded to have boarded bus trips to provinces from the terminal and 2,000 passengers arrived.
In 2015, a total of 8,000 passengers left the terminal for the provinces and 3,000 arrived during the same period.
Authorities said other passengers may have left earlier a week ago.
Fewer passengers were also seen in other bus terminals in Metro Manila such as Victory Liner in Sampaloc and DLTB Co. in Buendia in Pasay City, dzBB reported.
